- What type of financial aid is available?
There are two different types of federal financial aid available, grants and loans. Grants are funds given out on an at-need basis and it is not required for you to pay them back. Loans are borrowed funds that you must repay with interest.
- How much financial aid can I receive?
Your financial aid package will be based on your eligibility and need. The first step toward determining these factors is to complete your FAFSA online application.

- What is the FASFA application process like?

- When do I get my funds?
You must sign your Master Promissory Note (MPN) before you can receive any student loans. Student loan funds may post to your school account within the first two weeks of the first day of the term. Any questions regarding a delay in financial aid disbursement should be directed to our Office of Financial Aid. You can also obtain more information here.

- What is an MPN?
MPN stands for Master Promissory Note. This is a legal document that promises you will repay your loan(s) and any interest and fees to the US Department of Education. It also explains the terms and conditions of your loan(s).
- What does the cost of attendance include?
Cost of attendance includes tuition, fees, books and supplies, room and board, transportation, and other educational costs. You can also meet with a financial aid officer to discuss itemized totals for expenses.
- I have been awarded a Pell Grant. When will I receive my funds?
Refunds are issued when there is a credit balance to a student’s account. Upon receipt of any type of financial aid (veterans’ education benefits, scholarships, loans, grants, etc.), the funds are first posted against any balance owed. When a credit balance is created, a refund may be issued at that time.
- How can I get my official transcript sent to another institution?
Please send an email to email@example.com to request an official or unofficial CIAT transcript from our registrar.
- I have transcripts from another school and would like transfer credit. How do I get it?
Please have official transcripts (official transcripts are unopened and in a sealed envelope) sent to the attention of Records Specialist, Shantal Montano (firstname.lastname@example.org). Transcripts can be hand-delivered, mailed, or sent electronically. Once evaluated, you will receive a transfer credit letter from our Education Specialist, Richard Mikesell.

Depending on demand, we may create another section. The creation of a class is based on classroom availability, instructor availability, and demand.

Please complete the Petition to Graduate form (PTG). You can either contact your assigned student services coordinator for the form or you can obtain it on our website under Student Services > Student Forms > Petition to Graduate. Once your PTG form is filled, a records specialist will contact you regarding the next steps
- When will I receive my degree/certification of completion after I graduate?
You will receive your degree or certificate within six weeks of completing the program.

We work with students who have completed their certifications to find employment with more than 200 companies and recruiters. - What types of employers does CIAT work with to get students hired?
We work with a wide range of employers including Begelectric, Booz Allen Hamilton, Manpower Technical, Northrup Grumman, Qualstaffing for Information Technology, and Decypher Technologies. We also work closely with the San Diego Workforce Partnership to offer paid internships for our students, along with Computer 2 Kids, San Diego (C2K) for non-paid internships that require little experience.
- Why do I need to meet with career services to review my resume?
It is important to have an up-to-date, well-written, and well-formatted resume to make it easy for hiring managers, HR professionals, and applicant tracking systems to scan it.
Typically, you only have 10 seconds to impress the person reading your resume, and if they do not see any skills that align with the position they are looking to fill, they will move on to the next applicant. With a well-written resume that highlights your skills and accomplishments, you will significantly boost your chances of landing an interview in this highly competitive market.
- What good will it do me to go to career services?
The Office of Career Services is committed to providing you with the tools you’ll need to succeed.
