TAKE THE FIRST STEP.
Enrollment Deadline - June 19, 2023
Questions about whether this program is right for you? We’ll help match you with the best program to meet your career goals.
Every student is required to have a personal computer to successfully complete their coursework. To support your career-readiness, the hardware and software requirements are designed to mimic equipment that you are likely to use in the workforce. Successful completion of coursework, virtual labs, certification exams, and coding assignments require a personal computer that meets the minimum hardware and software requirements outlined.
If you do not have access to a personal computer of your own, you have three options to pursue prior to the start of your program:
The CIAT loaner laptop rental program helps you get started with your degree or certificate program, removing barriers to your success. If you are undergoing a significant financial hardship, students may apply for the financial hardship waiver. CIAT has limited number of loaner laptops available per term.
Read the FAQ below for more details and steps to get started.
CIAT provides loaner laptop computers for temporary use during a student’s program for an affordable rate of $50 per month.
The laptop is provided as a loan and is not available for purchase. Students cannot modify, sell, loan, or give away the CIAT laptop.
First term monthly fee is due prior to taking possession of the laptop.
Resident, on campus students and online students are eligible to participate in the loaner program. Delivery fees will be charged for online students located out of the San Diego area.
We understand that some students are working hard to build a new career, but are under financial constraints that make it hard to get started.
If you are undergoing a financial hardship and cannot afford the equipment required for the program, you may apply for our Financial Hardship Waiver. If approved, CIAT will waive the $50 per course rental fee and all associated delivery charges.
Students may apply for the Financial Hardship waiver using the form below. Students must submit the following required documentation with their online application or to a CIAT representative:
CIAT will provide a Windows laptop that meets the maximum hardware and software requirements required by the student’s selected program. CIAT does not provide Mac rental or tablet options.
You may opt to keep the laptop for a minimum of a single term up to a maximum of 90 days after your graduation date.
A termination notice will be sent one term (35 days) prior to anticipated graduation date or estimated return date. The Termination Date will be set to projected graduation date or date of Student termination request.
You may request an extension to your Loaner Laptop Agreement up to 90 days after graduation to support the completion of your job placement, certification exam, or coding portfolio goals. Extension requests must be provided in writing to StudentServicesTeam@ciat.edu.
If a student is administratively withdrawn due to multiple course failures, Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), or other reasons, the Loaner Laptop Agreement will be automatically terminated and the equipment return process will be initiated.
Resident, on-campus students may pick up the loaner laptop at a CIAT campus free of shipping charge. You can request us to ship the laptop at a flat rate of $50 per laptop for shipping and handling. Laptops are shipped within 72 hours after the Agreement is processed, using specialized boxes designed to protect the laptops from shipping damage. A tracking number will be provided upon shipment. The delivery may take between 5-10 business days from the ship date.
You are responsible for planning your schedule so that you can start your first class on time with the required equipment.
CIAT is not responsible for missing packages delivered to an incorrect address. Additional fees may be incurred for returned packages or repeat delivery attempts. Student is responsible for returning to CIAT the loaner laptop in its original packaging, and the associated shipping cost.
If the laptop needs repair, due to no fault of the student, CIAT will repair or exchange the laptop with one of equal or better performance quality.
CIAT will NOT be held responsible for any loss or damage. In the event that the laptop is lost, damaged, or stolen, the student is responsible for the full cost of of the replacement laptop outlined in the signed agreement.
If you are an active student and take a temporary leave of absence, you will still be responsible for the monthly rental fee, since you are in possession of the laptop.
