Federal Grants & Loans

Investing in Your Future

The cost of education can be intimidating, but it’s one of the smartest investments you can make on the path to a more prosperous and fulfilling future. At CIAT, we’re here to help you apply for scholarships, federal aid, and private loans to ensure you get the most out of your financial aid package. For more information, contact our Office of Financial Aid at 1-877-559-3621 or financialaid@ciat.edu.

Applying for FAFSA - Grants & Loans

1. Apply

In order to establish your eligibility for financial assistance, you must first complete the initial Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). When you’re filling out the form, use our CIAT school code 042598 and have additional financial documents, such as your tax returns and pay stubs, ready.

2. Processing

When you submit your FAFSA, the US Department of Education generates a Student Aid Report (SAR) that calculates your financial need and determines your Expected Family Contribution (EFC). CIAT will receive a copy of your application and begin processing how much financial aid (grants and loans) we can award you.

3. Award

Last, but not least: your financial award. Once we determine you qualify for financial assistance, you must review and sign your Master Promissory Note (MPN), a legal document in which you promise to repay your loans, with interest and fees, to the US Department of Education. Please read it carefully!

Federal Aid

You can also seek federal aid in the forms of the Pell Grant Program, Stafford and PLUS loans. These financial aid packages are a common way to pay for your educational expenses. The Pell Grant Program, unlike a loan, offers aid you don’t have to pay back should you qualify. Stafford and PLUS loans are also widely-used options with basic eligibility requirements and offer an array of interest rates and repayment plans. You can complete your online application here using our CIAT school code: 042598.

Cal Grant

Cal Grants are for students who are pursuing an undergraduate degree or vocational or career training, and do not have to be repaid. Cal Grant applicants must apply using the FAFSA or CA Dream Act Application by the deadline and meet all eligibility, financial, and minimum GPA requirements of either program. Grants are for students attending Universities of California, California State Universities or California Community Colleges, or qualifying independent and career colleges or technical schools in California.
