Background and Industry Experience

Erik Homenick holds a PhD in literature (with an emphasis on cultural studies) from UC San Diego. His primary research specialties are film studies, monster theory, and musicology. He also holds an MA in French (literature) from San Diego State University. He has over a decade of experience teaching on university and college campuses, having led courses at institutions such UC San Diego, San Diego State University, San Diego City College, and Mesa College. Prior to joining the California Institute of Applied Technology where he teaches English, Erik has taught French, humanities, film studies, and critical/analytical writing courses. He is the author of a forthcoming scholarly monograph, Scoring Godzilla: An Analysis of Akira Ifukube’s Musical Narratives, published by McFarland and Company. He has also provided film music-related supplementary materials to Blu-ray releases from Arrow Video. Erik grew up in San Diego, CA (Spring Valley, to be exact!) and enjoys in his spare time watching films, reading, listening to music, hiking, and trying new restaurants.
