Background and Industry Experience

About Me:

Carolyn Toth has a master’s in Psychology with a specialization in counseling, a bachelor’s in Human Services Management, and Mid-Management at the Community College level. Toth is currently working on her PsyD (Doctor of Psychology) in which she has completed chapter 1 and is now moving forward with the the research portion. She has completed all her courses in Industrial/Organizational Psychology for the P.h.D. and shortly after transferred to her PsyD program. Toth’s research for her education covered multinational corporations and expatriation of employees for Industrial and Organizational Psychology as well as the value of using flex-time for improved performance and organizational citizenship, reduction of lost man hours, and improved employee morale. Her current research interests are in the field of education and understanding resilience, including the biopsychosocial factors.
Industry Experience: Carolyn Toth’s background in electronics was an integrated design lab manager in BiPolar technology and a design engineer working on arithmetic logic units and processors. She was then a development engineer in integrated circuit design doing circuit manufacturing lab management of the inspectors, development of a BiMOS process, and design of circuits. Toth has worked on Test procedures for the process and assisted other engineers, layout personnel, and management on their designs and test. She taught layout personnel to use schematics and to use CALMA (computer layout) and at the same time used computer modeling programs for the circuits she was designing. Toth worked at both Hughes Aircraft and Unisys before changing fields during one of the down turns where the type of work she had been doing was outsourced to India. She also enjoyed working with diverse populations and has also worked for years in Human Services including counseling and employment. Carolyn Toth worked under various grants and programs before going back for her doctoral degree. This work was interesting and very beneficial to her teaching in cross-cultural experience . She has owned and operated several small businesses, and changed fields to gain more knowledge and income. Toth moved to construction as a general contractor licensed in CA and enjoyed this work until she felt it was time to move on to higher education.
” My teaching philosophy comes from years of teaching experience. My mission as a teacher is as follows: to promote positive learning; to spark learner enthusiasm for learning; and to provide a strong foundation for lifelong learning. To accomplish my philosophy of teaching I use a wide variety of strategies from the essential educational principles, which encompass learning theory, cognitive functioning, instructional planning and assessment, and diversity issues.”
