Background and Industry Experience

About Me:

As a lifelong learner, Author thrives on challenging conventions and reshaping traditional paradigms, especially within industries like healthcare, where adherence to outdated norms often prevails simply because “that’s how it’s always been done.” It comes as no surprise then that his expertise spans the realms of health information technology, automation, human factors, and informatics, rooted in a rich background in the biomedical field. Drawing from a diverse professional background that blends business acumen with research methods, Author excels in facilitating interdisciplinary dialogues. He is a strong advocate for collaboration across disciplines, as he believes that such is pivotal in addressing contemporary challenges. To that end, his priorities beyond the learning objectives for his students are threefold: 1) understanding the importance of thinking outside of the box and not being constrained to the textbooks’ principles; 2) making immediate connections between material learned in class and real-world applications; and 3) exposure to multidisciplinary perspectives to facilitate understanding on other schools of thought. Beyond academia, Author is a multifaceted individual with a passion for reading and writing, interior design, and staying active (calisthenics, swimming, and martial arts). He also enjoys learning new languages, playing instruments, cooking, travel, and keeping abreast of technological innovations. As a self-professed dog enthusiast, Author also enjoys fawning over adorable dogs on his social media feeds in his free time. Author was a fellow with the National Institutes of Health under the National Institute of General Medical Sciences. He has received accolades from the SCAN Foundation, Health Net, Inc., and the American College of Health Care Executives, to name a few, for his participation in various activities to the healthcare profession. Author was also the recipient of the Outstanding Graduate Award for the College of Health and Human Services at California State University, Long Beach.
