This course introduces students to procedural coding using the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) Level II code sets. Students learn the structure, conventions, and guidelines for assigning CPT codes across major sections including Evaluation and Management, Surgery, Radiology, Pathology, Laboratory, and Medicine. HCPCS Level II codes and modifiers are also covered. The course emphasizes accurate code assignment, documentation analysis, compliance with coding guidelines, and awareness of equitable access to procedures across diverse patient populations.
