Background and Industry Experience

About Me:

For over 10 years, I have taught English at various colleges, sharing my knowledge and passion for communication and the written word. I am also a published writer with poems and fiction appearing in literary journals and online publications such as RipRap, Angel City Review, and Cadence Collective. I self-published a collection of poetry in 2019 and am currently finalizing another. I have a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from California State University of Long Beach, where I was the Editor In Chief of the literary journal. I also have a TESOL 120-Advanced Certificate (for teaching ESL) and spent many years supporting students who were still learning English after just moving to the country. I also successfully completed the Canvas Online Faculty Training Certification Program through SDCCD, expanding my expertise in effective online learning techniques. My goal is to teach scholars the value of communication, critical thinking, and academic research. On the weekends, I teach yoga and spend more time with my family and Shiba Inu.
Industry Experience: MFA, English & TESOL 120-Advanced Certificate (for teaching ESL)
As a self-proclaimed lifetime student, my goal is to help create a better world and stronger community through the use and study of literature. My devotion to teaching is directly linked to my passion for learning. All of life’s lessons can be discovered in books, stories, and myths. And, it is an absolute joy to share that with my students.
