California Institute of Applied Technology (CIAT) and Sophia Learning have partnered to help students earn their CIAT degree more affordably and efficiently through self-paced, transferable courses that save learners time and money.
Sophia Learning offers over 70 self-paced online courses in subjects such as science, math, business, and the humanities, accessible anytime on a laptop, tablet, or mobile device. Through the partnership, CIAT students can quickly fulfill general education requirements at a lower cost and shift their focus to career-focused coursework sooner. Once a Sophia course is complete, transcripts are automatically sent directly to CIAT.
The partnership gives CIAT students another flexible, affordable route to knock out general education requirements alongside CIAT’s existing StraighterLine partnership, part of a broader network of academic and community partnerships designed to help students save time and money on the path to a degree.

The American Council on Education (ACE) has evaluated and recommended college credit for more than 80 of Sophia’s courses, and the platform partners with colleges and universities nationwide to help students transfer credit toward their degree.
