How to Apply
Students who intend to request financial assistance are expected to arrange an appointment with a financial aid officer as soon as registration has been completed. Financial aid officers are available on a walk-in or appointment basis to provide individual counseling to students who apply for financial aid.
Students who received financial aid for the previous year should receive a renewal email from the Federal Department of Education or your Department of Education PIN number sometime in January. Students are encouraged to file their renewal FAFSA applications electronically at https://fafsa.gov/
If you do not receive a Renewal email from the Federal Department of Education or if you did not apply for Financial Aid for the previous year, but wish to apply for coming award year, you should follow these steps:
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You may complete it online at https://fafsa.gov/.
- Regardless of how an applicant completes the renewal FAFSA, the March 2 priority filing deadline applies for undergraduate and graduate students to be eligible for campus based aid. Applicants should make sure the Institution Code for CIAT (042598) is indicated on their FAFSA or Renewal Form.
- It is the student’s and/or applicant’s responsibility to obtain and file all the forms by the proper deadlines in order to be considered for aid at CIAT. Students selected for verification will have 30 days from the date of notification to turn in all necessary documents. Please note that you must sign your MPN (Master Promissory Note) before receiving any loan funds.
For entering students, notification of financial aid is given in the form of an estimate letter shortly after admission. Accepted students also receive information and forms concerning application for other available loan programs.
