Workshop Description 
This workshop is designed to help students use AI tools to work faster and better in school and in the workplace. Students learn how to select the right AI tool for a task, write higher-quality prompts, iterate efficiently, and verify and revise AI-assisted work into professional outputs.

Who Should Attend 
Students who want to improve productivity using AI tools for writing, planning, studying, spreadsheets, and communication—especially those who have tried an AI tool but want a clearer method for prompting, tool choice, and verification.

What’s Included

  • Practical introduction to generative AI and common tool categories
  • Tool-selection guidance (which AI tools to use for what types of tasks)
  • Prompting frameworks and reusable prompt templates
  • Verification and revision techniques to improve accuracy and professionalism
  • Hands-on activity: source-to-slide workflow culminating in a simple AI-assisted PowerPoint

Prerequisites 
None. 

Workshop Details 
Live online through Microsoft Teams. The session uses four 50-minute instructional blocks with short breaks, and emphasizes active participation through chat, polls, and hands-on practice.

  • What AI tools do well, where they struggle, and how to use them responsibly
  • How to choose an AI tool based on the task (writing, research, study support, spreadsheets, coding support)
  • How to write structured prompts with clear task, context, audience, format, and constraints
  • How to iterate with follow-up prompts to improve results efficiently
  • How to verify claims, avoid common AI errors, and revise outputs for real-world use
  • How to turn a reliable source into a simple professional presentation using an AI-assisted workflow
