Program Overview

Program ID: #MA-GD

Program Length: This program normally takes 6-12 months to complete, depending on whether you attend full or part time.

Program Hours: 225 Hours (270 Clock Hours)

Tuition: $11,970 ($585 per unit)

Successful graduates will be fully prepared and qualified for positions as Graphic Designers either in a corporate or freelance (self-employed) position. This program introduces the student to the concepts, language and basics of graphic design and then prepares the student to achieve certification in the most popular computer software programs used by the Graphic Design community such as:

1. Adobe Photoshop

2. Adobe Illustrator

3. Adobe InDesign

Prerequisites:

Be able to use a computer keyboard and navigate in the Windows or Mac environment.

*Program is not eligible for FAFSA funding. 

Program Objective

Upon completion of the Certificate in Graphic Design program, the graduate will be able to:

  • Create visual concepts, using computer software.
  • Communicate ideas that inspire, inform, or captivate consumers.
  • Select color, images, or logo designs that represent a particular idea or identity to be used in advertising and promotions.

Economic Outlook and Growth of the Industry

Outlook

According to the U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of graphic designers is projected to hold steady (show little or no change) from 2014 to 2024.

Salary

The median annual wage for graphic designers was $47,640 in May 2016.

Program Hours: 270 Hours

Successful graduates will be fully prepared and qualified for positions as Website Designers either in a corporate or freelance (self-employed) position. Using popular web development tools and gained knowledge of professional website design practices and processes, the student will be able to create attractive and effective websites for their clients. This program familiarizes the student with the most popular computer software programs used by Web Designers, such as: Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and Developer Tools (Google, Chrome, Firefox, Safari).

Prerequisites:

Be able to use a computer keyboard and navigate in the Windows or Mac environment.

Program Objective

Upon completion of the Certificate in Website Design program, the graduate will be able to:

  • Create websites to develop a web presence for businesses, organizations and individuals.
  • Communicate ideas that inspire, inform, or motivate consumers to purchase products.
  • Utilize popular software programs to create effective and attractive websites.

Economic Outlook and Growth of the Industry

Outlook

According to the U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of web developers is projected to grow 27 percent from 2014 to 2024, much faster than the average for all occupations. Demand will be driven by the growing popularity of mobile devices and ecommerce.

The median annual wage for website developers was $66,130 in May 2016.
