- Understanding and Using APIs
Demonstrate competency how to construct a REST API, troubleshoot HTTP response codes, construct Python scripts, and compare common API styles (REST, RPC, synchronous, and asynchronous), and more.
- Infrastructure and Automation
Demonstrate competency and understanding with common infrastructure topics, such as model driven programmability, controller-level to device-level management, automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, and Cisco NSO), workflow automation by Ansible playbook, and more.
- Application Deployment and Security
Demonstrate competency and understanding with the concepts of application deployment and security, including the benefits of edge computing, attributes of application deployment models (private cloud, public cloud, hybrid cloud, and edge), utilizing Docker images in a local developer environment, utilize Bash commands, and more.
- Cisco Platforms and Development
Demonstrate competency with how to construct Python scripts using Cisco SDK, how to differentiate between Cisco network management platforms (Meraki, Cisco DNA Center, ACI, Cisco SD-WAN, and NSO), apply concepts of model driven programmability (YANG, RESTCONF, and NETCONF), and more.
- Network Fundamentals

The new Cisco DevNet exam now key includes new topics, such as automation and programmability. The exam covers a range of topics that help demonstrate competency in networking tasks including:
- Installing, operating, and configuring basic IPv4 and IPv6 networks
- Configuring network components such as switches, routers, and wireless LAN controllers
- Troubleshooting network connectivity problems
Before taking the Cisco CCNA certification exam, you should feel confident in demonstrating your knowledge to a potential employer across these 3 core areas:
- Networking
Demonstrate competency and understanding with key networking fundamentals, including host-to-host communication, the role of switches within LANs, IPv4 and IPv6 configuration, how to use Wireless LAN Controllers, and more.
- Security
Demonstrate competency and understanding with common network security topics, including threat defense technologies, security configuration of the device management plane, Access Control Lists (ACLs), and more.
- Automation
