CONTEST DETAILS

One winner will be selected to earn $10,000 towards tuition expenses in CIAT Associate of Applied Science Degree in Computer Information Systems. The selected student will have a unique opportunity to document and share their learning experience through video interviews, personal video logs, CIAT student event participation, and CIAT produced blog articles.

VIDEO SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS

Here are some ideas and tips for making a memorable Statement of Purpose video:

  • Introduce yourself: Tell us about your background and your career goals. What is motivating you to start a career in IT? 

  • Overcoming challenges: Committing to your education path takes dedication and commitment, but your time and energy investment will pay off. Tell us about a time where you’ve overcome a challenge and learned a valuable lesson.

PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY

Beginners welcomed, no experience needed.

  • Age 17 and older
  • Must have proof of high school diploma or GED completion
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA from from high school or previous college coursework
  • FAFSA eligible
  • New CIAT students only

SCHOLARSHIP CHALLENGE AWARD DETAILS

One student will be selected to earn a $10,000 scholarship award toward enrollment in CIAT’s Associate’s Degree in Computer Information Systems. The selected student will have a unique opportunity to document and share their learning experience through video interviews, personal video logs, CIAT student event participation, and CIAT produced blog articles. Your personal journey will help inspire others considering a career in IT and provide you a way for you to showcase your hard work.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I SUBMIT MY VIDEO?

You will be assigned a CIAT Admissions Advisor, who will be your primary point of contact through the entire program evaluation and scholarship award challenge process. We’ll help ensure that the Associate of Applied Science degree program is the right fit for your career goals and answer all your questions about CIAT online classes, industry certifications, and career services support.

WHAT WILL I NEED TO DO AS A STUDENT?

Winner selected for the Scholarship Challenge will be required to document and share their education and career journey while enrolled in CIAT Associate of Applied Science Degree in Computer Information Systems through video recording, interviews, live feedback sessions, and CIAT produced blog articles. Student will be required to:

  • Attend all new student events and workshops designed for student success, including but not limited to New Student Onboarding, New Student Orientation, Career Planning Workshop, and Industry Certification Test Prep Workshop(s)
  • Participate in New Student Admissions Interview (video, approx. 30 minutes)
  • Submit personal video log of their learning experience (3-5 videos per 5-week term, approximately 3-5 minutes in length each)
  • Participate in Student Feedback Sessions (video, once per semester, approx. 30 minutes each)
  • Participate in Graduation and Career Planning Course Module
  • Participate in Featured Graduate Interview (video, approx. 30 minutes)

Frequently Asked Questions

All applicants must be a minimum of 17 years of age.

To be considered as an applicant for the Scholarship Challenge, applicants must meet all qualifying criteria for enrollment into CIAT Associate of Applied Science Degree in Computer Information Systems. If selected, applicant must have proof of high school diploma or GED completion and a minimum 2.0 GPA from high school or previous college coursework.

Applicant must be eligible for Federal Financial Aid (FAFSA).

We welcome learners at all skill levels. There is no prior IT experience is required for entry into the My Tech Journey Scholarship or enrollment into CIAT Associate of Applied Science Degree in Computer Information Systems.

Welcome back! We value the contributions of our successful alumni. However, the My Tech Journey Scholarship Challenge is open to new students only. The intent behind this Scholarship program is designed to help students getting started in their journey and document their learning experience from start to finish.

We recommend a short video from 1-3 minutes in length. Help us get to know you!

Information submitted with an entry is subject to the Privacy Policy stated on the www.ciat.edu website.

Student video recordings may be shared publicly on the CIAT website, CIAT internal social community network Yammer, and public social media networks including LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, and others.

The winner will be selected by panel vote under the supervision of California Institute of Arts and Technology Management Team. CIAT adheres to a strict policy of non-discrimination. CIAT will not discriminate for or against any applicant based on race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, and related medical conditions), transgender status, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, or political affiliation. Winner will be selected using the following graded criteria of video submission entries:

  • Quality of video submission
  • Career motivation
  • Intent to successfully complete the Associate of Applied Science in Computer Information Systems Degree program

An evaluation rubric will be used by CIAT panel to evaluate submissions in a consistent way. Students can use this evaluation rubric as a guide to design their personal video submission content. Student video with the highest total score will be selected as the Winner of the scholarship. If multiple students are evaluated with similar high scores, a second round of evaluation will be conducted using the same rubric.

The winner will be selected on December 22, 2021. 

The winner will be notified by email and telephone within five (5) days following selection of Winner. CIAT shall have no liability for Winner’s failure to receive notices due to spam, junk e-mail, or other security settings or for Winner’s provision of incorrect or otherwise non-functioning contact information. If Winner cannot be contacted, is ineligible, fails to claim the award within 14 days from the time award notification was sent, or fails to timely return a completed and executed declaration and release as required, the award may be forfeited, and an alternate Winner selected. If Winner elects not to enroll in CIAT Associate of Applied Science Degree in Computer Information Systems, an alternate Winner may be selected.

We welcome all applicants to apply for enrollment in any of our Certificate, Associate or Bachelor level programs. 

This Scholarship Challenge is designed to provide maximum career opportunity for a student taking their first step into the IT field. The degree programs provides an adequate length of time to build skills and earn industry certifications.

Additionally, to maintain eligibility for the scholarship award, Student must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) and must adhere to all CIAT policies and procedures as outlined in CIAT Course Catalog

The $10,000 scholarship award will be applied evenly every term of the Student’s Associate of Applied Science Degree educational plan. Student is responsible for all remaining tuition costs and fees as outlined in CIAT Course Catalog. Student will be presented with financial planning options to complete their enrollment. If Student has successfully completed college coursework at another accredited college, Student will receive a transfer credit evaluation upon submission of unofficial transcripts and may be eligible for transfer credits. If Student withdraws from the degree program prior to successful graduation, Student forfeits remaining scholarship award. Scholarship award will not be held on Student’s account for future re-entry. No cash refunds from Scholarship award will be provided.
